Claire Mitchell is Head Teacher at Angel Oak Academy.
For the last 17 years, Claire has taught in south London primaries improving outcomes from Reception to Year 6. Claire joined STEP Academy Trust in 2016 and has previously held leadership positions at both La Fontaine and David Livingstone Academies, most recently in the Head of School role. During her time as Deputy Headteacher at David Livingstone Academy, the school was judged 'outstanding' by Ofsted. Claire joined Angel Oak Academy as Head Teacher in 2023 and the academy attained its second ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating in 2024.
Claire holds a BA in Ancient History and Archaeology from The University of Liverpool and obtained a PGCE in Primary Education at The University of Worcester. She completed The Outstanding Teacher Programme endorsed by The National College and the Teaching Leaders course through Future Leaders. Claire has been awarded the National Professional Qualification for Headship, and is currently enrolled on the National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership. Alongside Ambition Institute and the STEP Institute of Education, Claire is supporting the delivery of the NPQH for the current cohort.
