At Angel Oak Academy, Spanish was selected as the modern foreign language as it is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Our Spanish curriculum addresses both linguistic and cultural aspects of the language. We aim to build the foundations for our pupils becoming successful citizens who can communicate in different languages.
By the end of Key Stage 2, children have a good foundational knowledge of the Spanish language that prepares them fully for secondary school language classes. The curriculum is based on basic vocabulary and expressions (such as greetings, numbers or colours) that will be beneficial for pupils as they begin communicating in Spanish. Each lesson has been designed to progress from basic greetings to a short informal conversation.
